Behind the Scenes: How Our Websites are Designed

You’ve see the final result of a website before – a stunning, functional site that represents your company and your brand. But have you ever wondered what goes into creating the website? 
It’s a very creative and collaborative process. We at WebCraft Studio work closely with our clients to help them bring their vision to reality. 

Before we being on your journey, we will only begin the project if a 50% deposit has been paid. 

Once the deposit is paid we will consider the project has officially started and we will schedule an onboarding call with you. Depending on the complexity of the project we may schedule an online call as opposed to a phone call.

It’s vital for us to understand who you are, what you do, what your company does, and what value you or your business brings. 

We will start by hopping on a call and understanding what your requirements are. We will make whatever recommendations we need to, in order to get your project rolling.

We collect data such as, your current logo (if you have one), your current branding (if you have it), your current website (if you already have on but need a new one), your written content (if you have it ready), and your current hosting provider (if you have it). With all this data collected we will be able to start on your project.

Once we have all the data and requirements we need to start your project we will begin the design phase. With your needs in mind we will build out the “first draft” of your site. This usually takes us about 1-2 weeks. For larger projects, it could take us up to about 3-4 weeks.

In the process of creating the first draft, we will keep you updated on the progress so that you aren’t left in the dark.

We create your website in one of our development environments which acts like a website, just not with your Domain name. 

Once we’re completed with the first draft, we will send you the link to the site we’ve created on one of our own hosted domains. It will be your actual website just without your domain.

This will allow you to review the site we’ve created and prepare any feedback you’d have for us before our collaboration call.

In the same email we’ve sent you the with first draft website link, schedule a one-on-one online meeting to cover any changes, likes, dislikes and improvements that the site would need. 

We most commonly use Google Meets for our online meetings, but we’re happy to use Zoom as well.

NB. Please note we do not use Microsoft Teams for one-on-one meetings.

After we’ve collected your feedback, we will action the feedback and changes to your website. Please note that the changes and feedback need to be within the scope of the original quotation and agreement with the client. 

Once you’re happy with the website and ready for it to go live, we will send you the final invoice of the project. Once payment is complete we begin taking your site live. 

If you already have a hosting provider we will require you to give us the necessary login credentials so that we may take your site live.

If you don’t have a provider. We will be happy to assist you with our own hosting plans. 

Of course, we don’t just take your site live and then wish you well.

We of course do offer to assist you in maintaining your site. Either on a retainer or on an ad hoc basis. 

Our website support plan starts at R400 per hour. 

We even recommend a marketing strategy to get your site rolling and bring traffic. And not just any traffic, traffic that you need to get your site’s sales and your business where it needs to be.
